When a high-tech military plane vanishes in the Congo without a trace, BROYLES (Russell Crowe), a special-ops commander known for completing impossible missions, is dispatched with an elite unit to recover the wreckage and eliminate any evidence. MYLA REESE (Priyanka Chopra Jonas), a U.N. interpreter, is recruited by Broyles due to her knowledge of the region's languages and isolated communities and quickly becomes critical to the mission. As they travel upriver and deeper into the jungle, the unit must fight through the war-torn region controlled by militias, oil pirates, mercenaries and hostile forces. As they get closer to their destination in the dense rainforest, they discover the aircraft's disappearance was only the beginning. Then, reality itself begins to fracture under the influence of a powerful force hidden in the jungle's canopy, and the operation turns into a fight for survival against an unimaginable threat. They have become the harbingers of something beyond human understanding.
